Normal building hours resume August 5. 

New this year, all students must opt-in for transportation services via Skyward to optimize bus routing. Bus routes will be finalized by August 2 and families will receive an email to confirm route information. It’s recommended to review bus information again on August 6 due to possible last-minute changes. Buses may run late during the first few days of school as routes are learned. 

Elementary students will receive class assignments on August 2. Look for additional communication from your child’s school and/or teacher.  

Tentative schedules for secondary students will be released during school specific opening/preview events. All students in grades 5-12 will be able to access final schedules in Skyward on August 2. 

No fees for textbooks or curricular materials for the 2024-25 school year.  

Supply lists for K-8 students are available on each school’s website under the academics tab. Students in grades 9-12 should bring their device (iPad/Laptop), a notebook and pencil on the first day; additional supply information will be provided then.  

Quick Access to Supply Lists

Starting this school year, HSE will phase out the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) option, requiring students to use district-owned devices. For 2024-2025, this rule applies to students entering kindergarten, 5th, and 9th grades, with the mandate extending to additional grades each year over the 5 next years. 

Complete and update all 2024-25 Back-to-School forms located in Skyward via a browser (not the app). These forms include verifying family and emergency contacts, health information and consent to treat, technology agreement, and more. 

A SafeVisitor background check is required for anyone visiting an HSE school, including family members of students. This requirement also applies to: 

• Classroom Volunteers/ Helpers/ Room Parents 
• Field/Study Trip Chaperones 

A SafeVisitor background check is valid for three years. The cost is $12.95, covering a national screening process. The background check process may take 5 to 7 business days to complete. Visit our school safety webpage to learn more. 

2024-2025 Meal Prices:

• Paid Student Lunch K-6: $2.80
• Paid Student Lunch 7-12: $3.00
• Paid Student Breakfast K-12: $1.50

HSE Schools participates in the School Breakfast Program (SBP) and National School Lunch Program (NSLP) for free and reduced-price meals to qualifying students. To utilize this benefit, families must apply each year (even if you qualified previously). Applications and participation is confidential.  Please note if your student(s) qualifies for Direct Certification from the state, you will not be able to submit an application through Skyward. This is due to your student(s) already qualifying for meal benefits.

How do I apply for assistance? 

• Log into your Skyward account with your parent login.  

• Select a student.  
• Click on ‘Food Services’ on the left-hand side of the screen.  
• Click on the ‘Applications’ link located towards the top of the screen, then click ‘Add an Application.’  
• Follow the steps provided, including the Parent Letter, Instructions, Federal Income Chart, Privacy Act and Non-Discrimination Statements.

REQUIRED IMMUNIZATIONS

Students must complete state-required immunizations to attend school. Families should ensure new immunizations for incoming kindergartners, 6th and 12th graders are before August 7th.

MEDICATIONS AT SCHOOL

For students who require medications to be kept at school and/or administered during the school day, the following guidelines must be followed:

• Medications must be in the original bottle with full label
• All medications must be kept in the clinic unless it is an emergency medication.
• Non-FDA medications cannot be administered at school unless a physician’s note is provided. CBD or essential oils are not allowed. 

HSE HEALTH FORMS

Each school year, families are required to complete their student’s Health Card and Consent-To-Treat form in Skyward. Please visit our health services webpage for a rationale and full instructions for immunizations and medications.

HSE Schools uses several tools to help students and families stay engaged:  

Canvas is used by K-12 teachers as an extension to in-class instruction. Teachers may post assignments, give feedback and communicate with students on learning achievement. Students can access Canvas on their device and families are encouraged to make a Canvas Observer Account. 

e~Funds is a convenient way to prepay student’s meal accounts through electronic withdraw from a checking account or credit card. To learn more about using e~Funds, click here. Payments can also be made by check, money order, or cash. Balance information is available in Skyward under 'Fee Management.'

ParentSquare is a digital communication platform used by HSE Schools. Students and families may receive information and updates via email, text, phone call and through mobile app notifications.  

Skyward is an online portal for enrolling new students, sharing/accessing student information, viewing class schedules, grades, managing fees, and signing up for bus transportation.
