5-12 First Day of 50/50 Learning

5-6 Student Hours and Schedule

On-site and Virtual Learning

  • The 50/50 model (Phase II) begins on Thursday, September 17 for Intermediate students.
  • Students in the 'Blue Group' will report to school for on-site learning.

  • On-site and virtual students will follow their typical daily schedule.
  • Each teacher supports their virtual students with a live "synchronous portion" or a flipped lesson.
  • Most of the Related Arts lessons are offered in a flipped lesson format.
  • One Enrichment Session will be offered live by the librarian, building specialist and/or counselor. 
  • Students who are absent on-site or virtual need to watch the daily video and respond to the exit ticket / survey question to be counted present for the day. Attendance will be taken by filling out the exit ticket. 

7-8 Student Hours and Schedule

On-site and Virtual Learning

  • The 50/50 model (Phase II) begins on Thursday, September 17 for Junior High students.
  • Students in the 'Blue Group' will report to school for on-site learning.

  • Students will be on-site or virtual based on the Red / Blue alphabet split.
  • All students will follow their daily class schedule and will report for classes at their assigned time, whether on-site or virtual.   
  • Virtual students will join their class via Zoom and/or CANVAS at the same time that on-site students will report to class.
  • Teachers will communicate with virtual students at the beginning of each class period to review learning objectives and set expectations for the day.
  • Teachers will have a dedicated time for supporting virtual students each day. 
Virtual Learning Examples
Teachers may decide to have virtual students attend direct instruction synchronously. 
Teachers may break kids into small group and have them work on projects together with on-site students.
Teachers may instruct students to work on an assignment in CANVAS and then conduct a whole group class with both in-person and virtual students.  
 
Each teacher will develop their lesson plans and communicate their expectations to students.  Every teacher will have the creative freedom to tackle their curriculum objectives.  Whether in-person or virtual, all students will be following the same curriculum. 



 
  • Block Schedule: 80-minute classes on block / 40-minute classes on Wednesdays. 
  • Passing Periods: 5-minutes.
  • To balance the block schedule, two additional blocks of time on Tuesday and Friday for SEL lesson and Student Resource Time (SRT) will be utilized. 
  • Students will participate in SEL on the day they attend on-site.
  • 100% virtual students will pick Tuesday or Friday to participate in SEL.
  • Student Resource Time (SRT) will be used for tiered instruction.
  • Tier 1 = 'Benefit to All' / Tier 2 = 'Targeted'
  • SRT may also be used for traditional "Going to Get Help" activities. 

9-12 Student Hours and Schedule

  • Virtual students will join their class via Zoom and/or CANVAS at the same time that on-site students will report to class.

  • 100% virtual students will pick Tuesday or Friday to participate in SEEL.
