2018 Year In Review

December 20, 2018

By most measures 2018 has been a challenging year for Hamilton Southeastern Schools.  We have worked our way through a redistricting process, school board elections, various phases of construction projects, through staff and student tragedies, and transitioned to a new employee health plan and clinic. But by many other measures, 2018 has been a year of remarkable accomplishments.
We have celebrated a Gold Star counseling title for every school in the district, the creation of a partnership with Conner Prairie to provide rich experiences in Indiana history for every fourth-grade student, state championships at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Boys Lacrosse, Girls Track and We the People. We also had a state championship in Spell Bowl at Sand Creek, a state championship in Varsity Baseball and a national championship in Varsity Cheerleading at Fishers High School, a national championship at Fishers Junior High in We the People, record-setting fund raising for educational innovation by our Hamilton Southeastern Schools Foundation, and an amazingly positive impact on more than 8,000 lives by the charitable endeavors of Students in Action at Fishers High School.
Overcoming challenges and achieving remarkable accomplishments happen when people work together in a spirited faith in the future, in possibilities, and in one another’s potential. It happens when teachers orchestrate opportunities in deeper learning for their students and when students take advantage of those opportunities. It also happens every day in HSE Schools.
As we head into our Winter Break, I want you to know how grateful I am to be among so many who exhibit such spirited faith. Hamilton Southeastern Schools is a wonderful place in which to work, to study, to teach, to learn, and to grow. On behalf of our school board and our entire school community, I thank you for the role you played in making 2018 a rewarding year, and I look forward to working alongside you to make 2019 even better.
