Connie LaRocco directing music
A Tribute to LRE's Mrs. LaRocco

April 12, 2019

After 41 years of making music, Mrs. Connie LaRocco will be retiring as the Lantern Road Music Teacher. On March 22nd, current and past students gathered to honor Mrs. LaRocco at the "Hooked on Music" spring concert.

With a packed house, which included both the current principal, Danielle Thompson and LRE's FIRST principal, Tony Strangeway, they enjoyed a music festival at Fishers High School.

173 second, third and fourth grade choir students along with a 15 member handbell choir performed 12 songs which included everything from Beethoven to folk songs to selections from the Sound of Music.  The choirs were accompanied by a 22 member instrumental ensemble under the direction of the orchestra pit director, Bryce Inman.

Over thirty past Lantern Road choir students joined in the singing of the final 3 pieces. Following the singing of "Tribute to the Armed Forces", Connie LaRocco, was awarded the 2018-2019 VFW Post 6904 Teacher of the Year. It was a bittersweet ending to the concert as the children performed, "So Long, Farewell", to Mrs. LaRocco.

We will miss Mrs. LaRocco and her love of music. Most profoundly, the way she advocated for every child in her care. Her passion for teaching burned brightly, and now, it is time to pass the proverbial torch. Good Luck on your next beautiful adventure, Mrs. LaRocco!
