Outside AED Units Installed at Fishers and Hamilton Southeastern High Schools
Hamilton Southeastern Schools are pleased to announce that OUTSIDE AED (Automated External Defibrillator) units have been centrally placed at both Fishers High School and Southeastern High School campuses. These AED cabinets are hard wired to electricity that allows the operation of a heating and cooling fan system to protect the unit from the extreme hot and cold temperatures.
This outdoor AED system makes it possible to place the unit in a public area allowing better access if needed while outside. Hamilton Southeastern Schools are one of the few districts across Indiana that have these units installed externally.
Each year, nearly 7,000 young adults suffer from sudden cardiac arrest. Although the incidence of cardiac arrest is higher in adults than children and adolescents, studies suggest that cardiac arrest in children is increasing. HSE administration installed these units to improve school responses to heart and heat-related emergencies involving students and community members.
